Was I up super late last night? YUP..Was it worth it? YUP Am I in love with love!! YUP, I so am!! Aimee Nicole Walker’s Pretty Poison (Sinister in Savannah #3/KU) knocked me off my feet. It has taken the top spot as my favorite Aimee book to date and that is really saying something!! It is a BEAUTIFULLY written, one sitting, no dinner required, second chance, hurt/comfort love story. We find our podcast gents once again looking in to a new case that unfortunately hits a little too close to home for Rocky with his difficult past and disastrous marriage which he left behind when he moved back to Savannah. In walks Asher, his husband whom we briefly met in the last book, and Rocky’s world is turned upside down. Oh Asher Asher Asher, how do I love thee?? Their back story is heart aching as is their journey forward to a beautiful HEA! *LE SIGH* These men completely stole my heart!! Aimee’s time and attention given to their reconnection is unhurried and downright swoon worthy, and the dialogue is amazing! There are so many gorgeous, moving and funny passages that required me to bookmark the hell out of this book. The UST is strong and their chemistry is sexy hot! They mystery aspect of this particular story is a bit secondary to the love story, but important none the less. The secondary characters are back in all their glory and either had me laughing out loud or giving me the leaky eyes! I absolutely LOVED it!! Rocky Jacobs is a private investigator and 1/3 of the Sinister in Savannah podcast producers. He's currently working on a podcast story of a woman who has 3 dead husbands. Is there foul play involved or is she just unlucky? He's also working extra in the office to cover for his PI partner, who is on paternity leave. He definitely doesn't need any more trouble, especially one in the form of his ex-husband to be.Asher Dunleavy is an federal marshal that just transferred to Savannah from Las Vegas. He's tired of Las Vegas and looking for something better. He's also on the hunt for his runaway husband. Asher isn't going to allow Rocky to divorce him without a fight. If he has to employ a little subterfuge to get through to Rocky, well all's fair in love and war, right?Rocky ran from Las Vegas and Asher due to a case he was working on going south. It was a very traumatic experience and has left Rocky with PTSD, anxiety and other ailments. He's still working up to speaking with a therapist when Asher shows up. He fluctuates between going through with his divorce and working out their problems. Asher makes it clear that he's not going to let Rocky get away from him. He's supportive, loving and understanding of Rocky's needs while staying close at hand. Rocky and Asher have someone pulling strings from the background and it's not for the good of their relationship. Will they find out who it is before more trouble is caused? When Rocky digs up info that will exonerate the lady in his podcast story he has to decide if it's better to just let the past lie or bring out the truth and hurt more people.This is a well written story. The chemistry between the 2 MCs, as well as all the supporting characters, is really good. Rocky and Asher are a love at first site couple, going for the long haul and I was rooting for them every step of the way. We get to hear from the couples in books 1 & 2 and especially from Marla. Marla is a marvel and someone I'd love to have living next door. She has everyone's best interest at heart and does whatever she needs to to help her friends. This book will bring out all the feels and have you loving the tears you're crying. I highly recommend this book.
